Wedge Meters
Wedge Flow Meters are widely used for high-viscosity, low-flow & particulate-laden media - with no moving parts to maintain. These can be used for bidirectional flow applications.
View SpecificationsBETFLOW Wedge Meter (BF-WM)
The Wedge Flow Meter is a rugged, non-clogging differential pressure (DP) primary flow measurement device specifically engineered for the most challenging process fluid services — abrasive slurries, viscous liquids, heavy crude oil, paper pulp, coal-water mixtures, produced water with solids, wastewater, and bi-phase fluids. It is the preferred DP flow measurement technology when the process fluid contains significant suspended solids, has a high viscosity, operates at very low Reynolds numbers, or where conventional orifice plates and nozzles are prone to plugging, erosion, or measurement instability.
Bhavyam offers all flow elements under the BETFLOW range of products. Design & Engineering done as per Global Standards to meet challenging process demands. Manufacturing all flow metering solutions as per ISO 5167/ ASME MFC 3M/ ASME 19.5/ BS 1042/ AGA 3/ AGA 8/ RW Miller standards.

Frequently asked questions.
What is a wedge meter and what makes it suitable for slurries?
A wedge meter is a DP flow element with a V-shaped restriction (wedge) built into the pipe wall. Unlike an orifice plate, it has no sharp edges or small gaps that can trap solids, which makes it resistant to clogging and well suited to slurries, viscous fluids, and fluids containing suspended solids.
How does a wedge meter perform at low Reynolds numbers?
Wedge meters maintain a stable, repeatable discharge coefficient across a wide range of Reynolds numbers, including very low values typical of viscous or heavy fluids. This makes them more accurate than an orifice plate in applications where standard DP elements lose repeatability due to low flow velocity or high viscosity.
Is a wedge meter resistant to erosion?
Yes. The wedge profile, without a sharp machined edge, is more resistant to erosion from abrasive particles than a conventional orifice plate, extending service life in erosive slurry and sand-laden fluid applications.
